Goal7's client, an established E&P company in Norway, has a corporate goal to increase CCS activity as part of its net zero ambitions. Goal7 assisted in the nomination and application process for a carbon storage licence in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS)

Motivation:

Goal7's client, an established E&P company in Norway, has a corporate goal to increase CCS activity as part of its net zero ambitions. Goal7 assisted in the nomination and application process for a carbon storage licence in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Our Approach:

Goal7 and the project partners focused on maturing two saline aquifer opportunities as the candidates for storage sites. One of the opportunities progressed to an acreage nomination, with Goal7 providing drafting input on the value chain and review support for the area nomination document.

The project screening and literature reviews were carried out for the entire value chain, including capture sites, transport solutions, injection solutions, cost estimates, GHG emissions and storage location. To deliver this, a development concept pre-feasibility study was conducted by Goal7 together with one of the project partners.

Delivering this project involved cooperation across borders, where Goal7 successfully integrated and worked alongside the partner company teams.

Benefit and Impact: Goal7 applied their experience and deep understanding of the entire CO2 value chain to provide valuable input to the application. As part of the project, an accompanying Value Chain and Facilities Report was prepared to support subsequent project phases.

  • Technology review - Shipping CO2, North West Europe to Norway trunkline
  • Mapping and consideration of the entire CCS transport and storage value chain
  • Maturation of an acreage nomination
