Goal7's client, an established O&G company in the UK, wanted to improve its understanding of how to measure methane emissions, evaluate options for a greenfield project development and include an LDAR programme in the FEED stage of the project
Motivation:
Goal7's client, an established O&G company in the UK, wanted to improve its understanding of how to measure methane emissions, evaluate options for a greenfield project development and include an LDAR programme in the FEED stage of the project
Our Approach:
Goal7 researched to identify suitable methods and technologies for estimating, measuring, and monitoring methane emissions. This was reviewed in two separate scopes:
Scope 1:
- Identifying methods for estimating, measuring, and monitoring methane emissions aligned with OGMP and the OGUK methane emissions action plan. Including the implementation of a leak detection and repair (LDAR) program for a greenfield project, with FEED stage data gathering and leak quantification for all potential methane sources
Scope 2:
- Identified and Framed Applicable Methane Measurement Technologies for the area of interest and its activities and timeframe for development
- Reviewed emerging technologies and their readiness for implementation and assessed the potential for the company to support methane measurement technology development and implementation
Benefit and Impact: Goal7's rapid and efficient assessment allowed the client to understand suitable technologies for measuring and monitoring methane leaks and enabling them to establish an appropriate leak detection approach early in the project design process.
