Goal7's client is looking to expand their portfolio of CCS projects in the Dutch North Sea. This project forms part of their overall New Energy and Net Zero strategy
Motivation:
Goal7's client is looking to expand their portfolio of CCS projects in the Dutch North Sea. This project forms part of their overall New Energy and Net Zero strategy
Our Approach:
- Initial workshops were arranged to support the framing of the project and the sequencing of store developments to take place, considering various technical and commercial decision criteria
- Provided ongoing project co-ordination support to kick off the project, coordinated workstreams and interfaces with other projects, and inputted into cost and schedule estimates
- Provided technical assistance to technical workstreams to support the facilities' basis of design, reference case, HAZID, and risk assessments
- Carried out reviews of anchor emitters' projects to support commercial workstreams
- Application support for EU PCI / PMI status, which involved quantifying the net abated emissions from the project and carrying out a cost-benefit analysis using a shadow cost of carbon to arrive at an overall societal benefit for the project
Benefit and Impact:
- Improved understanding of the PCI / PMI process for both Goal7 and the client and identified that the project had a notable societal benefit due to the carbon abatement it offered for industrial emitters
- No showstoppers were identified, and the project was successfully progressed to Concept Select, whereby a storage licence application can then be submitted.
